As I was reading through the 10 Unique Perspectives On What Makes A Great Leader, in Forbes, I started to think more about how I am showing up as a leader in my life.
For starters, what makes someone a leader? How do I personally envision leadership?
I agree on a lot with the writer, who shared:
“best leaders are passionate about developing the emerging leaders around them, they constantly work to improve their emotional intelligence and know that a strong team culture is the foundation for accomplishing the mission. They are in a perpetual state of preparation and embrace the inevitable changes their businesses will face.”
So when I look at my leadership through this lens, I start to see as a leader, I get to honor, celebrate and amplify what’s working, and share this with people who are looking to elevate their leadership.
I get to request and receive feedback to understand and see what’s not working, in order to powerfully shift into something new or different. All while understanding that even though something I am doing isn’t working does not mean I am not working, or something is wrong with me.
I also get to continue exploring to find what’s missing, knowing there is constant room for growth and development in all areas of my life. I am a constant laboratory, a constant student, and have a constant thirst for knowledge and experiences.
I have yet to unlock my full potential in all areas of my life and understand I must explore to unlock this potential, which means consistently stepping outside of my comfort zone to expose my blind spots, and to ensure there are no regrets in life and that I am using each second on earth to the fullest for this exploration, celebration, service and to experience my transformational shifts that are all part of this journey.
Through it all, I have a vision. A vision that guides me through every HIGH, every LOW, every twist, every turn, every pivot, and more. My vision never wavers – it is my beacon, my truth, my purpose, and is the fuel for everything I do and everything I am.
